Services

I utilize positive and cognitive behavioral approaches, solution-focused and integrative therapies. Some work will involve motivational interviews for modifications. CBT challenges cognitive distortions, improving coping strategies. Motivational Interviewing is used to explore clients’ ambivalence to change, based on values. 14+

About

Freedom From Fear

Working with individuals experiencing feelings of depression and anxiety, as well as family and life transition issues are my main focus areas. With my previous expertise in performing psychiatric evaluations in emergency rooms, directing human services departments in municipalities, investigating elderly abuse, and counseling domestic violence and rape survivors, I have gained much knowledge and insight into human behavior. During my career, I have been an active member of a hoarding task force, spearheaded a memory café and facilitated a caregiver's support group. Integrative Therapy involves selecting models and methods from across orientations to best suit a particular client and context. Meta-analyses demonstrate that tailoring therapy to the individual client enhances treatment effectiveness. Caregivers are often isolated and overwhelmed, experiencing feelings of anger, sadness and frustration. This includes spouses of those diagnosed with dementia, adult children and those in the helping profession. Teens are living in a tumultuous world. Those with Tourette's Syndrome and other neurological disorders navigate life with unique challenges. Depression and Anxiety are not normal parts of aging, it can be a sign of untreated physical or mental health conditions. Seniors/Elders are often a forgotten group, believing that anxiety, depression and isolation are just "part of aging". Forgetfulness is not a normal part of aging Home visits offered (Holliston, Hopkinton, Ashland area). Being in a relationship with a person who hoards/collects to the point of impairment may cause distressing family interactions, chaos and embarrassment.
